Paco Stanley was a famous TV entertainer in Mexico. He was best known for his variety shows in the morning, and his comedy shows at late-night. His hosting was liked by millions of the audience. However, he was shot dead on June 7, 1999, which shook Mexico.

Paco Stanley’s Death
At around 12:00 noon, several subjects shot Paco Stanley, in CDMX. Two men sprayed automatic weapons on his car and shot him four times on his head. The gunmen also shot a bystander and one colleague of Stanley. Two other bystanders were injured during this incident.
At the time of the incident, police found that Stanley, his television co-host, and also Stanley’s son were carrying government agent credentials. There are multiple theories around it – either three of them were working as government informants, or they must be sold the credentials illegally.
Mexico City’s authorities believe that drug traffickers were responsible for the death of Paco Stanley. Alejandro Gertz, police chief of Mexico City stated that the attackers might have closely followed Paco Stanley, to understand his habits. He confirmed this because, the own security guards of Stanley, didn’t know from where the attackers had come from.
Paco Stanley’s Autopsy
Paco Stanley’s autopsy reports have revealed that there were traces of drugs in his blood. Also, the police uncovered packets of cocaine from the clothes. In the van of Stanley, police also found a mortar and pestle, which is usually used to crush cocaine. However, many chose to ignore this, as the fans were outraged by his death.
However, thousands of his fans have wept and attended his last rites, with handwritten signs, ‘Goodbye Poco’. Soon, his death was turned into a political agenda, by the opposition party, stating that the then Mayor of Mexico, Cuauhtemoc Cardenas was unable to handle the crimes in the city since he took office in 1997.
