Imagine you are surrounded by deputies around your home and it’s not robbers. How do you feel?
An East Harris County man has faced this situation. As per the bodycam video from the deputy, Dean Dietsch’s home was surrounded by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in December 2023.
Dean Dietsch stated that he was sleeping and initially thought he was being robbed.
“They had guns out and they were hiding behind the tree. I am like Oh, my God. They want to come get me for some reason.” He then came out with a raised shotgun, to defend his home.
After seeing all this, the scene got further escalated, where the video shows that deputies started screaming at him to drop the gun. Dean Dietsch then puts the gun inside and comes outside.
Deputies then yelled at him to lie on the ground, handcuffed him, and charged him with assaulting a public servant.
Dean Dietsch, then realized that the deputies were definitely at the wrong address.
As per the information from the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to Dean Dietsch’s address on a disturbance call. However, Dean Dietsch understood that the caller got the address wrong.
However, it took around seven months to dismiss the felony charge against Dietsch. Dietsch was in a mental and financial shock, as he did not understand what he has done.
Dean Dietsch still has to pay $30,000 for his attorney fee, and the bond paid by him is non-refundable, as he had to go through a bond company to afford the amount.
